Hopefully No One Needs to Use the Restroom ;-)

So the first project on the forever long list of to-do's is the Master Bedroom and Bathroom turned master bath.  We are going from 1 main bathroom to a master bathroom and further down the road will be adding a main bathroom, which will hopefully give the house some added re-sale value for the future.  The master bedroom will be getting a walk-in closet which will be a lifesaver.  If it weren't for a walk-in, all of JP's clothes would be in a different room.  This chick's got some clothing!! :-)

The master bedroom and bathroom have been completely gutted.  It's a good thing JP decided to re-do all the plaster because once he removed the plaster he discovered that there was no insulation of any kind behind any of the walls, brrr!  It's been a mild winter but when it's a typical winter and the temps range from 0*F to 20*F it would have been pretty chilly in there.  This will hopefully save on the heat bill a little too!

Here is a progress picture of where we started and where we stand today:

And this is what our bathroom looks like:

Adios bathroom!

Most people are wondering how we'll live with only 1 bathroom, and that bathroom being only accessible through the master bedroom.  Our answer: We'll make do!  Another question is "What will you do with just a shower and no tub?".  Well, for now it will be fine, it's such a space saver to only have a shower in the master bathroom and it seems most logical.  When the main bathroom is added it will have a tub for washing babies, which means we won't be needing a tub anytime soon ;-).  I think it will be well worth it in the end.  I'm excited to see progress happening.  I can't want to see the end results.

Here is the layout we are starting with:

And here is the layout we are working towards making happen:

The main things that will be happening in here:

*Adding a walk-in closet
*Removing the window on the back wall of the bedroom
*Adding a hallway closet for cleaning supplies and extra linens

This weekend will be filled with cleaning out the kitchen cabinets and prepping them so they can be painted and JP plans to put up the rest of the insulation in the bedroom and bathroom.  I plan on posting the layout of the whole whole sometime soon.  Have a good weekend :-)
